In the South, you will enjoy discovering the colonial district, the historic buildings in Saigon and the exotic atmosphere of Cho Lon district. Then, get to know the daily life of the Mekong Delta’s inhabitants throughout its villages.

In the Centre, you will visit the charming old town of Hoi An and the imperial monuments of Hue. You will walk in beautiful villages known for their traditional handcraft.

In the North, Hanoi, Halong Bay and Ninh Binh (terrestrial Halong Bay) are well complemented by the small paths to meet locals in the villages along the way.

 

  • What will you do during your trip?

During the trip, you will have the opportunity to taste local delicacies, meals made by your Vietnamese hosts. You will attend a costume and musical dinner as well as a welcome dinner in Hanoi, a tai-chi lesson on the junk’s deck, and you will be initiated to Vietnamese cuisine. Every single day, you will try special dishes from each region of Vietnam, which is one of the countries with the most diversity of dishes in the world.

For you, we have chosen nice hotels downtown as well as a wonderful traditional junk where you will spend a night. During the tour, you will experience the rickshaw, a domestic flight, the coach, the small boats and a cruise in a junk.

DAY 1 : YOUR CITY Flight to HANOI

Departure at your expense to the airport of departure. Check-in formalities and flight to Hanoi on regular flight. Dinner and night on board.

DAY 2 : HANOI

Arrival to Hanoi and welcome at the airport by your English speaking guide and transfer to the city.
Orientation tour around Hanoi and quick introduction of the street food culture while passing by the different stalls. Welcome dinner with the specialty "Cha Ca la vong", one of the most famous specialties of the North, sauteed fish in dill. Night at the hotel.

DAY 3 : HANOI

Visit of the Temple of Literature. Pursuit with the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda. Explore the city by rickshaw through the impressive colonial neighborhoods...
Walking in the old district of Hanoi and its small lively authentic streets. The "Banh cuon" ror lunch, also called "ravioli of Vietnam", served with "nuoc mam". Then visit the Museum of ethnology. Walk in a beautiful garden with typical houses. Stroll through the old districts of Hanoi to discover the "street food".  Stop at the tavern "Pho Suong" tiny room but the soup is outstanding! Savour your first dish: "Pho".
Continue your walk through the streets of the old quarter, several stops according to your taste: the fried spring rolls shop, the very popular among young people lemon tea shop or even the fresh fruit smoothie shop. Night at hotel in the old districts of Hanoi.

DAY 4 : HANOI / NINH BINH

Departure for Ninh Binh, passing on a portion of the legendary track of Ho Chi Minh. Along the way, various landscapes with many typical villages. Stop in Van Long site, located in the karst area of ​​Ninh Binh, nicknamed “Halong Bay on Land” for its beauty and extraordinary landscape. Lunch during the excursion.
Flat-bottomed boat ride
on the river that veers through huge karstic rocks, intact nature. Bike ride and special encounter with the locals. Visit a traditional house. Dinner in a local restaurant with the specialty of the region: mountain goat. A succession of tasty and varied dishes made with goat: steamed-cook goat with lemongrass, grilled goat, goat curry. Note: the goat in Ninh Binh is the best in the country. Night at the hotel.

DAY 5 : NINH BINH / HALONG BAY

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure towards Ha Long and its world famous bay. Boarding the junk to start your cruise. Seafood lunch while the junk sails between islands and islets. Explore the Cave Thien Canh Son, one of the most beautiful caves in the bay. Relaxation on the sandy beach of the island Hon Co. Back to the junk. Relaxing time to contemplate the sunset on the top deck. Seafood dinner on board. If you wish you can try yourself at squid fishing directly from the rear of the junk. Night on board.

DAY 6 : HALONG BAY / HANOI overnight train to HUE

Breakfast at sunrise. Boat trip through the fishermen floating villages, you will see small schools, houses, health posts... Last lunch of delicacies from the bay on board. Landing manoeuvres of the junk.
Way back to Hanoi, with a stop along the way in Dong Trieu village known for its ceramics. Dinner in a local restaurant. Transfer to the railway station. Sleeping train to Hue. Night on board (Tourist class, 4 berths / cabin)

DAY 7 : HUE

Arrival to Hue railway station and transfer to a small hotel for breakfast and a shower.  
City tour in Hue which declared Patrimony of UNESCO : Visit the citadel built in ‘Vauban’ architectural style, pursuit to the Imperial City and the majestic royal palaces, discover the magnificent temple of the Nguyen Dynasty.
Road towards a local family restaurant on the river bank. Taste a homemade lunch with specialty of Hue "Bánh khoai" and fig salad. Cruising on a Dragon boat ride through the Perfume River. On the way, assist to the manufacturing of conical hats and incense sticks. Then visit the Pagoda of the Celestial Lady and the tomb of Tu Duc.
For dinner, the "imperial" menu: succession of tasty well decorated dishes with carved vegetables, just as the emperor himself in his time. Night at the hotel downtown.

DAY 8 : HUE / HOI AN

Road to Hoi An through the astonishing “Pass of the ocean cloud”. Photos stop on the top of the pass to admire the view. Homemade lunch in a cottage away from the center of the city, friendly family and outstanding local cuisine.
Walking tour
in the ancient town of Hoi An: Chuc Thanh Pagoda, the Fujian  Chinese community house, charming colonial buildings. Walk among 800 buildings of historical interest. Stop the Japanese covered bridge, historic symbol of the city. Boat tour on the river to get in touch with the life on the river bank. At the end of the day, stroll in lively local market.
For dinner Banh Vac, "White Rose" rice ravioli stuffed with shrimp paste, speciality of Hoi An. Night at the hotel.

DAY 9 : HOI AN

Start cycling to Tra Que village, renowned for its vegetables. Greeting by a local family, learning farming techniques and will help the villagers.
Bike ride in the surroundings
with a surprise on the way: a buffalo ride. Continue your ride on scenic routes to the jetty of the Cam Thanh village.  Boarding on a traditional boat to experiment fishing activities: raising a large plaice net, technic to bait fish, hawk net fishing...  
Back to Cam Thanh then enjoy delicious local meal prepared by a fisherman’s family. Boarding on a basket boat "Thung Chai” for a ride on the canals lined with coconut trees. possibility fishing for coconut tree crabs. Road back to Hoi An. For dinner, "Cao Lau" noodle soup, pork and vegetables, culinary specialty of the town.  Night at the hotel.

DAY 10 : HOI AN / DANANG Flight to HO CHI MINH

Transfer to Danang airport to flight to Ho Chi Minh. Arrival, welcome by your English-speaking tour-guide and transfer to the city.
Walking tour
around the old colonial district. Photo stop in front of the Reunification Palace. Visit of the central post office, designed by Gustave Eiffel’s workshop, followed by Notre Dame Cathedral. Walk on the ex-Catinat street to the city hall, the municipal theatre and the historic “Continental” hotel. Lunch in a restaurant in town.
Tour in Chinatown 
very commercial area, the great Binh Tay Market, herbalists alleys, these plants are essential in traditional medicine and the Thien Hau Temple, known for his statuettes glazed ceramic. Dinner in the restaurant "Barbecue Garden".Night at the hotel.

DAY 11 : HO CHI MINH / BEN TRE / CHO LACH

Departure to Ben Tre in the Mekong Delta - the "capital of the coconut trees." Arrival and boat ride in the heart of the delta. Visit a brick factory.
Continue discovering a factory making crafts out of coconut fiber... Walk in a small village throughout schools, rice paddies, orchards, local houses, warm encounters with the locals. Homestay lunch with specialty of the delta: "elephant ear fish". Cruising along the arroyos in a traditional row boat, charming landscape.
Visit a bonsai garden and a nursery on the way road to Cho Lach. Installation in the cottage of Mr. Nam Hien. Possibility to assist in the preparation of traditional dishes that will be served during your dinner. For dinner, duck in coconut milk, the specialty of the house. Night at the cottage, private room.

DAY 12 : CHO LACH / CAN THO

Bicycle riding to the nearby local market filled with fresh products from the delta. Road back throughout the little trails.
Lunch at the cottage, typical meal with agricultural products from the region. Departure to Can Tho, it is the largest city in the Delta, crossing the river aboard a ferry with locals. Visit a Khmer pagoda with a typical architecture. Dinner in a restaurant on the lively river banks. Night walk in the port of Ninh Kieu. Night at hotel in downtown.

DAY 13 : CAN THO / HO CHI MINH Flight to YOUR CITY

Departure by boat on the canal Nong Cai to discover the river activities and the Cai Rang floating market. Tasting of fresh fruits of the area, directly bought from a boat on the river.
Return to Ho Chi Minh city. Lunch along the way. Arrival at destination at the end of the afternoon. Transfer to the airport for your return flight. Check-in formalities and boarding. Dinner and night on board.

DAY 14 : YOUR CITY

Breakfast on board. Arrival to your city.
